Why Ruby, Rails, and Agility

05/22/2005

Do you know why Ruby is proving to be so popular, and why Rails is the hottest thing to come down the pike, and why the agile software development approachs will simply be the de facto way software is constructed?

I think old Albert hit the nail on the head:

Any intelligent fool can make things bigger, more complex, and more violent. It takes a touch of genius, and a lot of courage, to move in the opposite direction. - Albert Einstein

That’s a great quote from Venkat’s upcoming book Practices of an Agile Developer. More on that later.

Ruby and Rails are smaller. Less complex. More effective. More agile. It’s an odd contradiction in this post-modern world, but less really is more. Stay tuned.
