German Pragmatic Programmer hits Top 40

04/29/2003

Sprechen Sie Deutsches?

The brand-new German translation of The Pragmatic Programmer (Der Pragmatische Programmierer) is currently (4/30/2003) ranked #40 on Amazon.de’s hit parade of all books in Germany. Maybe it will even make it into the Top Ten as it did here in the U.S.!

Many thanks to Andreas Braig and Steffen Gemkow for their labors in translating our idiom-filled and occasionally terse English into proper flowing German.

For the curious, the DRY principle (“Don’t Repeat Yourself”) becomes Wiederholen Sie sich nicht, and “Don’t live With Broken Windows” is rendered as Akzeptieren Sie keine zerbrochenen Fensterscheiben.
