Filled with confidence...

So here I am downloading Part One of IBM’s WebSphere studio evaluation. It’s a mere 60MB, most of the other TWELVE PARTS top out at about 80MB each; one is 112MB. Looks like this will take a while.

But not to worry, right off the bat I get my confirmation e-mail from IBM, congratulating me on deciding to evaluate their software and assuring me that there is a wonderful experience in store for me. In the e-mail, they even address me by name. Sort of. The one personalized line that really got my attention appears below, quoted verbatim from their e-mail to me:

This e-mail was sent to $in{REG_EMAIL} as a result of your registration.

Now I may get a bit fuzzy sometimes, but I’m fairly certain that I did not give them an e-mail address of $in{REG_EMAIL}, and I’m even more certain that if I had, it would not have been e-mailed to me successfully.

Now I’m just waiting for the rest of the 800MB or so to download to see what other treasures await. Truly, I am filled with confidence that this will be a marvelous experience…
